“We didn’t intend to start a design service until 15 years ago, when a friend and I endured disappointing and frustrating experiences with interior designers,” says Ken Bassman. It meant he ended up designing, project managing and furnishing the spaces himself.

It currently has 1,200 projects across 12 different countries, refurbishing residential, holiday and hospitality spaces, and working with clients, designers and architects on new construction projects. “I’ve always been a client-centric, details-driven, trustworthy person but, until that initial point, I hadn’t realised this approach wasn’t the norm,” says Ken. It was another spur to drive Bassman Blaine’s entrepreneurial spirit.
