Lifestyle management company 48 London offers a discreet, tailored service and an attitude that anything is possible
Transforming a Miami home into a British Christmas grotto scene with reindeer, chilly temperatures and Father Christmas was all in a day’s work for Sophie Shelton and Hope Dowlen of 48 London. In their quest to provide the ultimate concierge service, the team of two have taken on seemingly impossible challenges.
“We did a bespoke pregnancy plan for one client,” says Sophie. “That involved finding the right health specialists and designing the nursery, right down to finding a behavioural specialist for the family dog to make sure it would bond with the new baby.” They even had to find a “unicorn” for a photoshoot – they sourced a white horse and attached a horn to its forehead. The pair take pride in never giving “no” as an answer.
With her background in senior management roles at leading luxury retail stores such as Selfridges and Harrods, Sophie is well versed in the needs of high-net-worth clients and has a vast network of contacts. After she met Hope, who was also in a high-end lifestyle management and personal shopping role, they decided to address the gap in the market. “We thought there was a need for a boutique-style concierge company that truly had the benefit of the client at heart,” says Sophie.
With wellbeing at its core, they founded 48 London in 2015. Individuals receive a bespoke service – everything from interior design and personal style, to access to the best nutritionists, trainers and health professionals. “We look for what is best for that client, and to get them the best deal,” says Sophie. “We never rest on our laurels, and want clients to trust us and feel that they can ask us anything.”
Their approach is founded on understanding what makes people tick, underpinned by a strong work ethic and a belief that anything is possible. In concierge and lifestyle management work, attention to detail is essential.
“We recently put together a three-month honeymoon for a client, spanning across the US and Caribbean islands with a three-week turnaround, complete with private jets and helicopters, yachts, villas, luxury hotels and immersive surprise experiences in each destination,” says Sophie. “We have contacts others wouldn’t expect us to have, and we are always prepared to go the extra mile.”
