A Room in the Garden takes pride in delivering beautifully detailed, bespoke garden rooms, for any space or specification
When designer Lukas Brzozowski and his wife Ivana Cavallo were looking for an outbuilding for their garden and could not find one they liked, Lukas decided to design one himself. The result was such a success that the couple decided to start a business creating designer garden rooms.
Since 2017, A Room in the Garden has designed unique outdoor buildings, including garden studios, offices and summer houses. The team of seven, based in Brighton, take care of every detail from the foundations to the decor (Ivana has a fashion degree). “The biggest compliment is when someone looks at the completed project and says, ‘That looks like it has always been there’, because then we know we’ve done our job,” says Lukas.
The team turn a client’s wishes and budget into a fully realised project from start to finish. “We are good at listening and reading between the lines to find out how clients want to enjoy the space, how they want it to look,” says Lukas. “In most cases, our first design is the right one. Clients have peace of mind that what they see on the drawings is what they are getting.” Garden rooms can usually be built without planning permission if they are small, otherwise the company helps with legal issues.
A Room in the Garden is exactly that – another room for the property. Clients can enjoy all the facilities of a luxurious living space, including bathrooms, ventilation, insulation, heating and Wi-Fi. Clients choose to add rooms so that parents or grown-up children can stay, or to have another space to enjoy. Projects have included creating a lawyer’s office with custom-made furniture, and a cabin on a lake complete with a sauna. “We can design anything to anyone’s taste and fit in any space. There are not many companies who want to do it all and deliver everything.”
Another important focus that makes A Room in the Garden stand out is customer service, including maintenance once a project is finished. “It’s so rewarding when people come to you afterwards and say that your creation is not only beautiful to look at, but has also improved their family life,” says Lukas.
