Pagerie’s selection of luxury accessories brings the quality of couture to beloved pets, complementing owners and animals alike
Countless couples debate whether to allow their dogs onto sofas or beds. According to a biography of Joséphine Bonaparte, she and her husband Napoleon had this age-old discussion and Napoleon supposedly relented. Joséphine was born Marie Josèphe Rose Tascher de La Pagerie, and Pagerie – a luxury fashion brand for pets – is named in honour of her love for her treasured pug Fortuné.
Before founding Pagerie, Mandy Madden Kelley had frequently observed beautifully dressed people whose pets were less than optimally adorned, and had been unable to find high-quality accessories for her French bulldog. In response, she developed her own collection, which launched in 2019. The company is devoted to pets and those who lavish them with the finest things in life. “Pagerie is akin to haute couture for pets, in that the attention to detail, design creativity and manufacturing quality rival the world’s best fashion houses,” says Mandy. “In fact, our accessories are made by the same artisan European ateliers, but our values extend beyond fashion, to the welfare and comfort of pets and the health of the planet.”
Pagerie’s accessories include exquisite hand-braided leashes, adjustable collars and harnesses with patented closures, stylish waste bag pochettes, and a handsome, ergonomically designed dog grooming kit, crafted in leather, wood and stainless steel. The company uses vegetable-tanned REACH- certified European leather to minimise its impact on the environment, and ethically produced organic cotton and stainless steel ¬– both of which help prevent skin irritation.
“Every step in the creation of our products is carefully considered,” says Mandy. “The hardware, for example, is custom made in marine-grade stainless steel so it is comfortable for the wearer and its performance and appearance endures. Our designs are meticulously fine-tuned, so they comfortably and naturally accentuate the animal’s beauty while also complementing their owners. And every element is rigorously tested, for quality, safety and comfort, to ensure it safely withstands an animal’s lifestyle and the elements.”
Such is Pagerie’s success, and in response to demand, the brand is expanding into accessories for pet owners and their homes, including blankets, bags and scarves, as well as a necklace incorporating the brand’s pear-shaped emblem. It is further proof that where people’s pets lead, their owners follow.
