TetCode4 delivers a scientific approach to healthy skin, courtesy of a German professor with four decades of skincare expertise

With more than 40 years’ experience in dermatology, Professor Dr Steinkraus knows almost everything there is to know about skin. So it’s worth listening when he outlines the perfect skincare routine – provided by TetCode4, the professor’s range of evidence-based products, developed using his many years of scientific wisdom.

“You start with cleansing, then a Vitamin C serum, then some hyaluronic acid, then a covering cream – a light, medium or rich variant depending on your skin condition,” says the professor, who founded the Dermatologikum Hamburg, an international centre of excellence for dermatology, in 1997, and has run it since. “You do the same in the evening but replace the Vitamin C with Vitamin A, and the third step is niacinamide. We have a very clear approach that comes from our scientific knowledge. It’s about the right substances at the right times in the right sequence.”

Professor Dr Steinkraus’s products use Vitamins A, C and E, niacinamide (Vitamin B3) and hyaluronic acid – the only substances that have been proven to help the skin, delivering and strengthening antioxidants. He refutes phrases such as “anti-ageing”, as ageing is inevitable. Instead, he wants to give skin the nutrition it requires to stay healthy for as long as possible. He also wants his products to be affordable. “Luxury is not about price, it’s about content,” he says. His products are available online, and the aim is to retail the range through a suitable partner in London shortly.

All packaging is recyclable, and the skincare products and suncream contain no ingredients that are harmful to corals or marine life when they enter the sea. In addition, €1 from every sale is used to support healthy peatland near Hamburg, as peat is much better than woodland for capturing carbon.

“When it comes to TetCode4, the primary goal is to stay biologically young,” he says. “If you are biologically young, you look better and your skin’s immune system works better. If you really want to do something good for the skin, you have to approach it from the outside as well as the inside. You can deliver perfect nutrition on the inside, and outside you use our products. My products take sound data from science and match it with the wonderful lessons of nature.”
